Health
- THE DOG DEN requires all dogs to be de-sexed by 7 months of age
- Please advise THE DOG DEN if your dog has had diahorrea, vomiting, coughing or any other sickness 24 hours before they attend day care
- If your dog has been housed in boarding kennels or attends another dog daycare centre your dog must not attend day care for at least 7 days to prevent the possible spread of infections such as canine cough
- If your dog contracts kennel cough at any point in time there is a 10 day stand down period after the dog has finished its antibiotics and symptoms have subsided.
- It is important to keep us informed regarding your dog’s health such as wounds, scratches, scrapes or injuries.
- Please inform us regarding your dogs health, including wounds, scratches, scrapes and/or injuries. Throughout the course of the day our staff will be checking the health of your dogs in our care, so it is essential we are informed about anything out of the ordinary.
- Any dog who has had an anaesthetic and or sedation cannot attend day care until 48 hours after the drugs were administered
- If your dog is fed in the morning please make sure to feed them 1 hour before attending day care to give them a chance to digest their breakfast before exercise. This is to prevent vomiting their food up and to prevent other potential problems such as gastric torsion (bloat)
- If your pet is on medication while boarding with us, please provide detailed instructions and we can administer oral medication. We unfortunately are not equipped to give injections to pets.

- Our team live on site, and out of courtesy of our neighbours, and also to protect our Resource Consent we are unable to take dogs that continue to be noisy (barking/howling/crying), such as barking at night, or crying/howling due to separation of human contact. If there is a continued problem with noise levels, we will unfortunately have to contact you to come and collect them.
